The Simple Things Of Life
07/29/04

The beauty of the sunrise, to light a brand new day,
Nature's perfect rainbows, colours all array,

A million different shades of green, adorns our countryside,
Seas and lakes & waterways scattered far and wide.

The sweet smell of the summer rose, a butterfly on wing,
Echoing sounds of the birds, how sweet the lark does sing?

The simple things in life by far, treasures for us all,
Winter, spring & summertime, not forgetting fall.

Snowflakes in the winter, everyone so rare,
Each single flake's quite different, floating through the air.

Sit and watch the sunset, as the day draws to a close,
Ripples of a mountain stream how perfectly it flows.

Animals and all insects, wildlife that we know,
Wonder's of their species, nature's helped them grow.

Flowers bloom through seasons, brilliance everywhere,
Some wild, yet so appealing, for everyone to share.

Life can be expensive, causing so much strife,
Priceless things are there for all, the simple things of life.

Memories
09/14/04

The lady was sat in her old rocking chair,
As shawl draped her shoulders, that caressed her grey hair.
With the glow from the fireplace, dried logs crackling sound,
A storm raging outside, beating down on the ground.

With the rain on the windows so hard for to see,
Her garden she cared for, her big apple tree.
That body so tired now, someone else does the deeds,
Seeing and caring to all of her needs.

She picks up a picture that's placed by her side,
Of a young man in uniform standing next to his bride.
How sweet are the memories of this happy pair,
The way they are smiling, not having a care.

Although long ago now, the time has flown by,
When she thinks of this young man, she tries not to cry.
Her memories still strong of the last time they met,
In the garden that summer, thought their future was set.

They carved their initials on the big apple tree,
Still as clear to this day for all people to see.
This old lady waits patiently, knowing one day,
Her handsome young husband will come home for to stay.

My Jewelry Box
01/06/05

I once had a jewel box that was given to me
But before it would open you turned a gold key,
Then a melody played as you opened it wide,
And a figure appeared standing upright with pride.

Such beauty bestowed on that ballerina's face,
Adorning her Tu. Tu. of pretty pink lace,
Her eyes shone like sapphires as blue as the sea,
Pirouetting on tiptoe, she's danced just for me.

Whilst the melody played, how perfect the sound?
My sweet ballerina turned around and around,
No diamonds or rubies were inside my box,
Just my ballerina with the blonde curly locks.

No need for jewelry, not silver or gold,
For the melody brought me the treasures I hold,
Fine memories are priceless and stay in your heart,
Memories are precious and will never part.

No need for riches, like bracelets and rings,
Just box full of pleasure and the joy that it brings.

January
01/18/05

Just peeping through the window a cold day once again,
A Robin hops upon a branch, I see him now and then.
No leaves adorn the tree's as yet, we'll have to wait awhile,
Underneath the frosted ground flowers sleep now in the soil.
A little bulb pops out of bed reaching for the light,
Red berries brighten up the place, there's also some in white.
Young flowers, birds and animals, are about to start anew,

January starts the year, just for me and you!

Earth's Injustice
01/23/05

Earth our planet, what's this place?
And who are we, us human race?
Rich and poor, good or bad,
Tyrants, villains, happy, sad.
Hot and cold, floods to heed,
So much hunger, yet so much greed.

Innocent people, who shall lose?
No-one has the right to choose.
Jealousy, anger, to die in wars,
Understanding what's the cause?
Sadness, sickness, plagues and fear,
Typhoons, earthquakes, a smile or tear.
Indeed through time, since life began,
Confusion, questions, asked by man,
Earth's Injustice, who knows why...

Peace on earth? We really try.

February
02/22/05

For now the end of winter,
Enter into spring,
Buds will start to open,
Robins flee the wing.
Underneath the hedgegrow,
Animals start to yawn,
Refreshing, starting out again,
Young lambs will soon be born.

Thank You Mom
03/08/05

Mother you bought me into this world
and held me so close to your heart,
Our love was then sealed, forever revealed
and nothing could beak us apart.

You guided me gently always,
watching so I wouldn't fall.
A glance from your kind and beautiful eyes
can make me feel ten feet tall.

The love between mother and daughter,
is a secret that they only know,
Your sweet loving ways, caring and praise,
into a women you've watched me grow.

How can I thank you mother?
Let me find the right words to say,
I admire you so much, your soft tender touch,
just adore you in every way.

Thank you for all of your kindness,
your a mother as dear as can be,
These words are for you, a lady so true,
thank you for just loving me.

A poem for Mothers Day.
This poem can be for a wonderful son as well.

No Place Like Home
03/08/05

Bottles and paper, crisp bags on trees,
Torn plastic carriers blow in the breeze.

Paint sprayed on lamppost, bins here and there,
Why should we worry? We only live there.

What happened to flower's pretty and bright?
The place we live, why not look a site?

Rubbish is thrown with never a thought,
No one to worry if you get caught.

Trees full of blossoms, hedgerow so neat,
What a pleasure to live in a clean tidy street.

Why wreck your home, your place of abode?
Be proud that your house is the best in the road.

Litter replaces a pleasant display,
The mess that we see gets worse every day.

Broken bits here, smashed up things there,
Don't even see it or even care.

To have our surroundings tidy and clean,
Instead of the rubbish, let's see the grass green.

Then stand up and say, these words really grand,
There's no place like home it's the best in the land.

April Showers
03/24/05

April shower's sprinkle down,
Pitter patter drops,
Random raindrops all around,
I love it when it stops.
Love the springtime sunshine,

See a rainbow here and there,
Hold your brolly good and tight,
Outside it blows your hair.
Weather changes, rain then sun,
Every day you see,
Raindrops falling, we don't care,
Shelter underneath a tree.

An Evening Out
05/15/05

"Get yourself ready, we're taking you out",
my son and his wife agreed,
"an evening that's special, you wait and see,
this occasion is just what you need".

I put on my dress and touched up my hair,
so exciting, oh my this is fun,
a car picked me up, everything had been booked,
"Where am I going, my son"?

We traveled a while, completely in style,
arriving at just after seven,
got out of the car, I felt like a star,
this evening was just simply heaven.

We'd arrived at a fabulous theater,
everyone dressed so smart,
my son and his wife were dressed for the night,
and me?, Well I looked the part.

I was escorted into the foyer,
a cocktail was placed in my hand,
surrounded by decorative splendor,
how everything looked so grand.

We made our way to the balcony,
the orchestra started to play,
my evening, was just so perfect,
the night at the Royal Ballet.
